Being a mum of two children and working full time,
I have to make sure we have a good balance of treats and healthy food in the house at all time and help the children to make sensible choices for food options and not always reach for chocolates and biscuits.
My son plays lots of sport so I always try to make him a healthy smoothie to take on his travels, my latest recipe is called the ‘Green Smoothie’ and features lots of green healthy foods that taste great together and very simple to make with a smoothie maker or blender.
Its a mixture of both fruit and veg, soft and hard, sweet and sour – a very simple combination.
Ingredients
Fresh spinach, cucumber, apple, celery, apple and a splash of apple juice.
Chop everything up and throw into the smoothie maker and blend until the mixture is the right consistency and feels smooth to drink. Pour into a nice glass and garnish with a slice of cucumber and kiwi.
Now that’s a quick healthy drink for any child with a love for fruit and veg.
