When scanning the internet for exhibitions and events, I came across the Vogue exhibition, A Century of Style at the National Portrait Gallery, I had to buy tickets.
The exhibition celebrates 100 years of this influential fashion title which has not only changed the way we look at fashion, but the way entertain and made fashion more accessible to all.
British Vogue launched in September 1916.
- The Vogue Timeline
- A ticket I will always treasure
The exhibition takes the reader through the different decades of Vogue and how they had an impact on what was happening in the world outside of fashion, the large print images of famous models and celebrities, from leading photographers is impactful and helped me to capture how Vogue evolved with the world around us, with it’s own wartime correspondent and special issues for all the big British events, this fashion magazine was ahead of it’s years.
The love for fashion is something we have in our bones, you cant make someone interested in fashion brands, as a child I would look through my mum’s old Vogue magazines and wish to design clothes, my daughter now sits looking through Vogue magazines, it’s like looking at myself.
Covers featuring Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, Kate Moss first cover shoot in 1993 and moving into a digital remit in 1996, the exhibitions showcases front covers from each year, beautiful behind the scenes footage from leading fashion shoots and shows how fashion has changed and developed.
If you love fashion and a massive Vogue fan like myself this is a must see exhibition, running until 22 May 2016.
